It’s true when they say “everything happens for a reason”, and adapting to change is only the struggle we have to take on before enjoying all the good things it brings into our life! We’ll have new opportunities for personal growth and happiness because we’re getting out of our comfort zone and doing something that can potentially change things for the better. But when we decide to make changes in our life, those stagnant areas will be forced to grow with us. We tend to get stuck in ruts and do things the same way over and over again without giving ourselves a chance to improve and get out of uncomfortable situations because of fear. But if we just stop and think about it for a minute, it’s easy to see why change is good. Our feeling of safety is built on the routines and habits we create for ourselves, and when those start to falter, it’s normal to feel like everything is falling apart. And gosh, how scary that is!Īnd that’s totally ok. Life changes require us to grow up and face the real world as fully grown and more-or-less independent adults. We see people come and go from our lives, and some who used to be so important to us are not there anymore. We move to a new city where no one knows us, and we don’t know anything about anyone. We quit our job and find a new one in a totally different field, or we even start our own business! We break up with our better half, have to face that uncomfortable moment of packing our things and leaving the home we used to share with them, and start all over again. We see this constantly in our lives - we graduate from college, get married, and have kids.
